Danial Hariz Wong is a strategist and systems builder working at the intersection of civic intelligence, open-source investigation, and strategic communications, with experience spanning continents and conflict zones.

Began his career as a policy analyst, research associate, and speechwriter, working with business councils and advisory groups on crisis management and stakeholder communications in high-pressure environments. During this period, he contributed to policy-facing research and the development of strategic narratives across multiple think tank settings.

Subsequently transitioned into civic technology, with a continued emphasis on satellite-based intelligence applications and the structuring of complex, real-world data into coherent analytical systems. His work centres on developing tools for detection, narrative mapping, and large-scale interpretation to support informed decision-making across investigative, policy, and operational contexts.

Danial Hariz Wong later founded Constellation (2021–2025), a boutique open-source intelligence initiative, assembling an international, multidisciplinary team and contributing to investigations alongside organisations including Bellingcat, the Bonn International Centre for Conflict Studies, the Centre for Information Resilience, Human Rights Watch, Médecins Sans Frontières, and The Grey Zone. Investigations included tracking illicit weapons trafficking across Latin America, conflict-monitoring infrastructure for Ukraine, satellite-based maritime detection, burnt-village detection via time-series imagery, and a healthcare-attack visualiser for Syria. The initiative was later paused as focus shifted toward building larger-scale civic intelligence systems.

Danial Hariz Wong is currently the CEO and co-founder of PENTAS (2025 — present), Malaysia's first civic intelligence platform, leading the design of a mobile-first system that transforms fragmented public information into structured, actionable intelligence. The platform integrates parliamentary records, news sentiment, political networks, and citizen-driven inputs into a unified analytical layer. Drawing on nearly a decade of experience in system architecture, data pipeline design, and dashboard development, he builds both analytical infrastructure and public-facing tools — including the open-source satellite tool SAT-SPEAK — to make complex civic dynamics more interpretable for researchers, policymakers, and the public.
